Law School News Round Up

posted by Grant

Today is the day so many people have been anticipating, dreading, longing for, etc.  Today is the first day of the bar exam.  Gross.  We do not envy you, although we will in a couple of days when you're finished.  Especially if you passed.  Once again, good luck.

Here are a few intersting tidbits for those of you out there that like to keep up on what's going on in the world of legal education, legal job hunting, etc.:

Goodbye law professor tenure?  It seems like this makes more sense at the undergraduate level.  I had a lot of professors in college that kind of sucked, but my experience in law school has been different.  Most of my professors are not only good teachers, but seem to be genuinely interested in my progress and some even in me personally.

Law school competition to attract employers heating up?  If it isn't hard enough for us as individual law students to work overtime seeking employment, law schools are getting creative in how they are attracting employers to their students: inviting them to come earlier.  Oh wait, that isn't creative.  I don't mean to criticize law school career services offices, but come on.  Most of us aren't 100% sure what goes on in that office, and I for one am disappointed to see such a lazy idea.  There has to be a better way to attract employers than to essentially just attempt to undercut the other guy.
